Our marine collagen is both hydrolyzed and a collagen peptide. What do we mean when we say hydrolyzed? Hydrolyzation is the process during which large collagen molecules react with water and break down into smaller molecules, commonly referred to as "peptides." Therefore, our marine collagen is also a collagen peptide.
Type I collagen is the building block of our skin's structure, making up around 80% of our skin's dermal layer. Our bodies produce collagen naturally, but its production begins to decrease as we age. This is why collagen supplementation becomes more important in maintaining healthy and hydrated skin as we get older. Marine collagen is composed mostly of type 1 collagen and is rich in amino acids that support the body's natural production of collagen. Bovine-, chicken-, or pork-based animal collagen is often type II collagen, which is more suited to joints, but isn't as effective as type I marine collagen when it comes to beauty-boosting benefits.
Whether you keep it basic with a cleanser and moisturizer or prefer a skincare routine that has a couple more steps, Collage Elixir is a must-have and is super easy to use. Simply open and drink at your preferred time of day. For best use, incorporate Collagen Elixir as part of your daily health and wellness ritual for an ultimate glow. Collagen Elixir is great as a chilled beverage and can be used as Cleanse Day support.
There are over 20 types of collagen. However, there are a couple that stand out the most. Types I and III are the most prevalent, with type I accounting for 90% of collagen. Type I collagen strengthens hair, skin, nails, and bones. Type III collagen impacts bone integrity and strengthens the blood vessels in our circulatory system. While type II collagen is less prevalent within the human body, it is renowned for promoting joint health. Type II collagen is sourced from animal collagen, as opposed to the marine collagen sourced for types I and III collagen.
